Meet Shawn McGinnis
Shawn McGinnis is a multifaceted creative professional whose talents span music education, professional videography, woodworking, 3D printing, and craftsmanship. A graduate of the University of North Texas, where he earned degrees in music education and music theory, Shawn built the foundation of his career in the world of music. Years before Sweet Bee Artisan Boards was created, he was Dr. Chi’s band director, a connection that would later come full circle in a meaningful and unexpected way.
For more than 30 years, Shawn has combined his work as an educator with an accomplished career in professional videography. Throughout North Texas, he has captured performances by choirs, bands, theater groups, and mariachi ensembles, bringing technical expertise, artistic sensitivity, and a deep understanding of live performance to each project. His knowledge of advanced audio and video technology has supported countless students and ensembles as they have prepared for performances and achieved recognition at regional, state, national, and international levels.
Beyond his professional work, Shawn is a dedicated maker and lifelong learner. His interests in woodworking, 3D printing, musical instruments, and biking reflect his curiosity, precision, and love of hands-on creativity. Whether he is refining a video production, designing a custom object, or shaping a piece of wood, Shawn approaches his work with patience, care, and a commitment to excellence.
At home, Shawn’s life is full and lively, with one child, two dogs, and five cats. He also cherishes his relationship with Phoebe and the creative life they have shared together. Sweet Bee Artisan Boards represents one chapter of that shared creativity, reflecting their appreciation for craftsmanship, tradition, and meaningful handmade work.
Shawn’s story is defined by dedication, artistry, and a deep respect for family, creativity, and excellence. His contributions to Sweet Bee Artisan Boards helped shape its spirit: thoughtful craftsmanship, personal connection, and the belief that handmade pieces can carry both beauty and meaning.
